Probiotics. A slogan in the natural health community. And rightly so! Most health-conscious people understand that probiotic foods and dietary supplements have a positive effect on digestion. In fact, the benefits of taking probiotics has been well explored and the enthusiasm is great.
If you have not heard of fermented food, Kefir and Kombucha, then you will soon. These are nutritional strengths used by those who live a healthy lifestyle through an excellent digestive system. Since the well-known advantages of probiotics are now being expanded in the mainstream culture, new research results have shown remarkable promises for the use of these “good bacteria”.
Emerging thoughts include the idea that probiotics can actually help to balance the bacteria on the skin, very similar to the way they are known to improve the balance of the bacteria in their digestive system. This is a relief to those who are affected by eczema, psoriasis, various rashes of the skin, skin allergies, acne, unsightly discolorations and interestingly, it also proved to be an effective antidote to aging (also known as wrinkles)!
Our skin is the largest organ in our body. It requires, above all, extreme care for general health, as it is our first line of defense against disease-causing disease. Often we forget that our skin contains millions of useful bacteria, also known as microflora. Microflora play an important role in the prevention of unwanted bacteria.
All chemicals in conventional deodorants are used to kill these “bad” or unwanted bacteria that cause the unwanted natural odor. But in the meantime, they also kill the “good bacteria”. Leaving our body helpless.
THERE ARE MANY REASONS WHY WE SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE USE OF ANTIPERSPIRANTS AND COMMERCIALLY PREPARED DEODORANTS! HERE ARE JUST A FEW:
1. There are hidden dangers in the active ingredients of conventional deodorants (ie aluminum, parabene, propylene glycol, phthalates and triclosan). Recent studies show a strong link between antiperspirants with aluminum and breast cancer, birth defects, allergies, hormonal disorders. These potentially hazardous chemicals have no place in our homes and certainly no place under our arms.
2. Even with all the possibilities for a completely natural, “green” deodorant, it’s just too expensive for this frugal chick!
3. Let the body do what it does! I believe, when we try to inhibit the natural functions of the body, we effect negative on the rhythms created for a purpose.
INGREDIENTS FOR A HOMEMADE PROBIOTIC DEODORANT:
-1 tbsp. Cocoa butter
-1 tbsp. Coconut oil
-1 tbsp. Shea butter
-1 tbsp. Beeswax
-2 1/2 EL . Arrowhead powder
-1 tbsp. Natron
-1/4 tsp. Non-GMO vitamin E oil
-15 drops of essential oils of your choice
-2 capsules of powdered probiotics
1. Melt the cocoa butter, coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax on low heat.
2. Remove the pot from the heat, then add the arrowhead powder and soda. Mix it with a snow bean until the powder has spread and dissolved. Let the mixture cool in the pan. Once it has cooled and it has the consistency of pudding, open the capsules of probiotics and mix it underneath. Stir quickly with a spade to combine.
3. Use a deodorant container. Put it in the refrigerator and let it cool down and harden.
